Join AIDS Project Rhode Island (APRI) for the annual “It Takes a Hero to Get to Zero” APRI AIDS 5K Run/Walk for Life, or largest fundraising event of the year.

The event will include a 5K Run, a free 5K walk and a 1-mile walk. All runners and walkers are welcome to come be part of a heroic team pushing for an end to AIDS and getting new HIV infections to zero in Rhode Island.

About the Race

The AIDS Walk for Life was started by AIDS Project Rhode Island in the mid-1980s—part of a wave of grassroots fundraisers held across the country to provide support to those affected by HIV.

Today the Run/Walk for Life raises much-needed funds that allow us to continue our mission, to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental, and a collaborative response to people living with, affected by, and at risk for HIV.

More than 2,700 people are currently living with HIV/AIDS in Rhode Island. HIV continues to disproportionately affect low-income and minority communities, particularly young African American and Latino gay and bisexual men, and women of color. The public’s support helps APRI fight the stigma and discrimination that people living with HIV, unfortunately, still face every day. On a brighter note, we know we have the tools to make “getting to zero” a reality. Thank you for joining us and supporting our mission!

Register as a solo runner or walker, and your donation helps ensure APRI can continue to provide services to those who need us most.
