The annual Downtown Jingle 5K is a holiday season run/walk in Downtown Providence on Sunday, December 8,2013. This event will be hosted at the RI Convention Center.
"The last three months of the year can offer a cold day... so by securing the RI convention center for the participants and their family and friends , we can offer a place where participants can be comfortable before and after the run. There are also 2,000 parking places at the RI convention center and a further 4,000 at Providence Place. Participants can park indoors and walk indoors to the convention center and enjoy the entertainment or just hang out with friends." states race organizer Charles Breagy.
There is also a youth run at 10:30 a.m. and Santa will be on-site to meet all the kids. The youth races is 1K and all participants receive a race t-shirt.
The Downtown Jingle 5K will once again be supporting Toys for Tots ( http://www.toysfortots.org ) and Project Undercover ( www.projectundercover.org ). Please consider bringing a unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots or a packet of disposable diapers or new children's socks for Project Undercover to the packet pickup locations.
The Downtown Jingle 5K is a colorful run/walk where many participants dress up in holiday season costumes and have fun with their friends and family. All participants will receive jingle bells to wear on the run/walk. This creates a very special race as jingle bells can be heard throughout the entire course. The first 1,000 entrants will receive a long sleeve technical shirt. After the first 1,000 entrants everyone will receive a short sleeve shirt.
